The system consists of:
High resolution digital camera with 1384 x 1032 pixel and 12-bit
- Telecentrical measuring lens
- New developed special LED lighting system for non-reflecting illumination of weld seams

- Customer-specific measuring cell construction
- Full integration in the production line
- Image processing software Kappa Xero with customer-specific
adaptations for data evaluation

The weld seam evaluation is displayed on a monitor. The respective evaluation result is shown with a summary go no go light. With the classic light-section method only single line profiles can be evaluated. In contrast to this method the new Kappa method enables evaluating the whole section captured in the image. Interpolation eliminates the effects of distortions and impurities (e.g., welding sputters), which are not relevant for the product quality.
